November 2009 - New Marina Manager Mr. Derrick Van Deventer has been appointed the new Marina Manager as of 7 December 2009. In this position he will oversee the marketing and daily operation of the marina. Derrick has build-up a wide marine experience, first as captain on various private, charter and sports fishing yachts and the last 4 years as marina manager in Phuket. He has been living in Phuket since 5 years. |

November 2009 - Electrical Marine opens Chandlery Adding great convenience for marina visitors, a chandlery will be opened on the premises of Ao Po Grand Marina. The marine shop is operated by Electrical Marine, who are the Phuket agents and dealers for Vetus, Simrad, B & G (Brookes and Gatehouse), Lowrance, Mastervolt, KVH, Northern Lights/Lugger, Blue Sea Systems, Interphase, Lalizas and C-Map. The chandlery will open it's doors to customers first week of December. |

22 October 2009 - Simon Grant passes away in motorcylce accident It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of our Marina Manager Mr. Simon Grant. Simon has helped to build up the marina from the start of operations and will be greatly missed by both the marina team and marina visitors. |

September 2009 - Quarterdeck restaurant opens in October The newly constructed Quarterdeck restaurant is superbly located at Ao Po Grand Marina's waterfront. With a tropical modern open-air ambience, the Quarterdeck is both a lounge bar and a fine restaurant catering to marina guests and marina visitors. It is a welcome addition to the marina's facilities and full opening is expected towards the end of October. |

April 2009 - The Moorings move to Ao Po Grand Marina The Moorings will be introducing a brand new fleet of luxury yachts from its base at Ao Po Grand Marina as of May 2009. The fleet will include 2 x 47ft Power cats, 2 x 37ft Power cats and 2 x 46 Sailing cats. Close to Phang Nga Bay and no tide restrictions make Ao Po Grand Marina a natural choice for charter fleets. |

April 2009 - Sunsail to move to Ao Po Grand Marina Sunsail, the world's leading sailing holiday company will move its base and its complete Phuket based fleet to Ao Po Grand Marina as of May 2009. Customers will have the obvious benefit of being close to the Phang Nga Bay area (a favorite destination for charter boats) as well as having the chance to leave and come back at all times as Ao Po Grand Marina has 24 hour access independent of the tide. |

26 Jan. 2009 - Marina hosts opening Phang Nga Bay Regatta 2009 A fleet of 60 odd yachts settled itself comfortably and safely in Ao Po Grand Marina on January 26, 2009 in anticipation of another great regatta around Thailand's most famous bay, Phang Nga Bay. The Ao Po Grand Marina sponsored the opening party of this 2009 edition and invited all competitors to stay overnight free of charge in order to have an easy and quick start of the regatta the next morning. This generous offer was taken up by most of the yachts taking part, resulting in a very well attended opening night with close to 500 punters, where as usual food was aplenty (also sponsored by the Marina) and drinks fully in line with that. 27 October 2008 - Amancruises comes to Ao Po Grand Marina Amancruises, the upmarket yacht management and charter operator company related to the prestigious Amanpuri hotel in Phuket, have decided to relocate 12 yachts under their management to Ao Po Grand Marina. The yachts range from 110ft to 30 ft and include the Maid Marian II (110 ft classic cruiser), the Mekong IV (100 ft cruiser), and the yacht Maha Bhetra (90 ft luxury cruiser). Amancruises manages a fleet of cruisers and sailing craft for sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, overnight stays and sightseeing. The yachts include both private yachts and yachts available for high-end luxury charter. |

27 October 2008 - Hotel guests transfer from Ao Po Grand Marina Three acclaimed resorts located on islands in Phang Nga Bay decided to use Ao Po Grand Marina as their Phuket base for the transfer of hotel guests between Phuket and the resorts. The three resorts are: Six Senses Hideaway on Kho Yao Noi, Six Senses Destination on Kho Naka Yai and Phi Phi Island Village on Phi Phi Island. It is expected that more island resorts will follow. "Ao Po Grand Marina is an ideal location for our high-season daily taxi boat service between Phuket and the resort. 25 - 26 October 2008 - Ao Po Grand Marina hosts Open Boating Days Ao Po Grand Marina will be the centre of attention over the 25th - 26th October weekend for the first, annual “Simpson Marine Open Days”. On this unique event Simpson Marine plans to showcase a selection of popular power and sailing vessels. Visitors will be able to inspect pleasure craft from the reputable Azimut (47 and 55 models), Beneteau (including the new Beneteau Flyer 750) and the Maxum range, and various brokerage and charter vessels. Brokers will be on hand to answer any boating enqueries and to highlight the endless options of the boating lifestyle in Asia. Visitiors are welcome daily from 10 am to 4pm. Boat ramp for trailerable boats opens October 2008 Ao Po Grand Marina is in full preparations to finish the construction of its boat ramp at the South end of the marina. The boat ramp is equipped with full launching facilities for all trailerable boats and will open in October 2008. |
